Governments And Youths To Action

For a long time in the news, the climate issue came up. Everything about the heated climate — on all websites, and on all media channels, on social media, and everywhere. That was when Greta Tuneburg, a schoolchild who decided to take a short break from her school studies to study climate change and research proper measures that will reduce the climate issues we face. She got famous, got a lot of followers on Twitter, the media showed her face everywhere, people and students everywhere around the globe took a placard written a quote about nature and went on protests against governments, who didn’t care much about the climate.

But later, as usual, everything had its own time, and the whole news channels, and so on turned their cameras, mics, and so on to other incidents, and got diverted to other political matters.

For a long time, there were some small events, but not a burst of news like Greta. Soon everyone forgot about everything. As time changes, everything changes along with its course.

But some miracle happened this month, and news about climate issues and heated realities came on all over the internet. News regarding the acceleration in the numbers of forest fires, missing forests, destruction of corals, warming climate, acidifying ocean, and so on came to the world media notice. This was all after the decisions of governments all over the world to take climate issues more seriously.

The recent news regarding Australia’s harsh policies on climate issues is taken seriously by the whole world. Polls such as the Lowy-commissioned poll and YouGov on behalf of the Australian Conservation Foundation held in Australia tell that the Australians are ready to do anything for the betterment of climate. But the policies held by the current Australian PM Scott Morrison says that Australia will dig up coal after 2030, and even pressured the UK to drop their climate concerns and actions. The interesting fact is that Australia had already been suffering from climate changes such as frequent forest fires, warming oceans, whitening of reefs, and drying up of rivers.

A UK official had said that other nations should pressurize Australia to adopt better climate policies, and this underlines how crucial the current situation is. Many of us may think of tweeting under an air conditioner regarding climate change, and many do exactly that. But the time for jokes is over, and now the world needs more action than concern. Nobody wants someone to tell them that this is the world’s most critical point, and if we burn more fuels, and cut down more trees, we, along with our fellow creatures will meet an apocalypse, and Earth will remain as a graveyard.

The daily news of warming Earth is not something that we can read by munching on sandwiches. This is the time for action, and the ultimate results will entirely rely on the actions of all Governments around the world. Not only closing fossil fuels but also sustaining the forests are important for our existence.
